Arai Defiant Helmet for the Naked Rider
If you are naked or riding a naked bike, Arai has a new helmet for 2013 which could keep you feeling like a boss. The Arai Defiant Helmet has been brought to the market under the assumption that the urban rider is tougher than you are and he needs to show it. The obvious is a face-lift featuring the follwing key changes:
Refined Neck Roll
Skeletal Chin Vent
Burly Vents at Top and Tails
But wait! There’s more!
The not so obvious is the connection between the updated and grizzled aesthetic and what should be a more stable and quiet ride on a bike with no fairing in a number of non-tucked riding positions. The key features should address the typical turbulences affecting city rider when fully exposed, at speed. As the Arai Defiant Helmet rolls out this Spring, we will look for early feedback on whether or not it is living up to the hype.
We look to Arai as a leader and innovator in the functional and protective aspects in our space. The hope is that their latest extension lives up to the hype.

Icon Airmada Parahuman Helmet Launch

The latest launch out of Portland is a helmet and get this, it has SKULLS. Dearly beloved Icon, you have skulls on the brain but I do love your unwavering devotion to all things macabre. Don’t flinch. Don’t waver. Don’t stop being your bad self. Keep making cool helmets like the Icon Airmada Parahuman. Make choices - do skulls.

You can keep scaring anyone who decides to ride on your lawn. You can continue your mastery of all the things that Charon, Sauron and the Crypt Keeper love so much.

I close my eyes I see the Parahuman. I flinch. I like it.

New Bell Rogue Helmet Released

Half + 3/4 + Badass + Any Motorcycle = The new Bell Rogue Helmet. We were surprised and delighted to see the new Bell Rogue helmet this Fall for recent release in 2013.

Bell using some geeky new technology to create a lid which not only caters to the hardcore cruiser crowd, but in our opinion could look great on a naked biker or gnarled out touring bike.

Watch our Bell Rogue Helmet Review

The key new feature is the “muzzle” which is a detachable mask with venting. It’s more to create cool looking coverage from mother nature than it is to guard against a faceplant, but it’s nice to see innovation in any form in the helmet landscape these days - even if it is in the form of out of the box design.

You can find the Bell Rogue Helmet at RevZilla.com/bell and always watch our video breakdown on what riders seem to be completely polarized about already.

It’s official - Icon Airmada Helmet - fit for human consumption.
As of Friday, Icon has officially put it’s stamp on the next lid for the new millenium - the  Icon Airmada Helmet. The claim to fame on this bad boy is all the things you love about the Alliance, but now in track ready form. To us “track ready” form speaks to the Airmada’s four shell sizes and new all encompassing shape around your face and crown, which should appeal to the track day and race community specifically. While we have not ridden in it yet, Icon puportedly has also improved the venting scheme in a step past the current Airframe which apparently should be considered the former champ.
Time will tell on the Icon Airmada and it’s adoption by the track community of riders. Wait and see. Wait and see.

Alpinestars Atem Jacket & Suit for Fall ‘12
The Tech 1R was a beast. The new Alpinestars Atem Jacket and Atem Race Suit take a great Tech-1R foundation and make it more ergonomic, comfortable, protective and vented. The new aramidic stretch panel across the chest coupled with a tweaked design provide a nice update to both. More airflow, more movement with all the race day protection of the Astars tech line. Also we see the DFS (sliders) make their way onto the elbow to compliment the other sliders of the Alpinestars Atem Race Suit as well as Jacket - a feature which was once reserved for the Race Replica which still costs millions.
The Atem is high-end, protective and borderline professional - It’s also an iteration of a successful product family which could stand it’s ground on it’s own. Check the ‘Zilla for our video rundowns.
Boom.

AGV PistaGP Helmet Unveiled

Carbon Fiber PistaGP Shown above

It was a long time coming so we are unsure why the whole world was so shocked when we all saw Valentino Rossi wearing a new Carbon Fiber AGV Pista GP helmet recently. The AGV PistaGP is the Carbon Fiber version of the new AGV Corsa Helmet, which will be the direct replacement for the AGV GP-Tech. All in, even the CF / Kevlar / Fiberglass AGV Pista is a welcomed leap forward in helmet tech from AGV. The AGV Pista Helmet will be lighter, better fitting and provide 15% more visibility from the eyeport. AGV is also stating that ventilation will be greatly improved over the already cool GP-Tech due to a 193% increase in chimney vent surface area. We should also see some of this tech wash through to the new AGV GT Veloce in 2013 as well.

Our early opinion is that the new design looks wildly aggressive and a helmet that looks like that, is what you would expect to see on Vale’s head.

Stay tuned.

Schuberth S2 Helmet Unveiled
New Schuberth S2 Helmet candid from Dealer Expo this weekend. We finally got to smell it. It smelled excellent. On a more serious note, the Schuberth S2, which has been touted as a a non-modular C3, is much more complete and sporty compared to what we were expecting.
More to come as we get our grubby hands on it.
